We have vacancy for the role of AREA MANAGER – Quality Health Safety Security and Environment (QHSSE) and invite results-oriented, self-motivated and qualified persons to apply. The role reports to the Head of Audit & Compliance and is located at Takoradi.

KEY ROLES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide leadership for the company’s quality, health, safety, security and environmental programmes
  • Provide and ensure effective internal and external communications on all matters relating to QHSSE for workers, visitors, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors as required.
  • Lead the integrated management system for ISO 14001, 9001 and 45001, providing reviews, developing processes and system and determine where improvement is required.
  • Lead initial review and ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
  • Act as lead auditor for the integrated management system
  • Produce QHSSE reports that supports in decision making
  • Encourage and enforce worker participation in QHSSE matters and report same as input for Management Reviews.
  • Manage and ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to Quality, Health, Safety, Security and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Perform and ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Liaise with external QHSSE consultants in the provision of training programs and services. Also conduct regular trainings for staff.
  • Oversee the implementation of Incident Investigation and reporting as well as the OH&S Alert procedures.
  • Provide and assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment.
  • Carryout visits to Operation sites, and walk the yard/office floor on a regular basis to establish QHSSE presence and provide support.
  • Ensure that QHSSE objectives are set and reviewed as planned.
  • Evaluate and analysis QHSSE issues and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with management and staff to ensure continued QHSSE integration into core operations.
  • Monitor and ensure that all QHSSE legislations and industry standards are complied with and ensure a safe working environment for workers, visitors and the general public.
  • Conduct continuous improvement processes including auditing to improve processes and procedures.
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of lifting plans, method statements, route surveys etc
  • Manage the QHSSE team, support in their recruitment and responsible for appraisal of team members

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Occupational Health or related field.
  • Professional Qualification or Master’s degree in Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety, Quality Assurance or related field will be an added advantage.
  • Lead Auditor certification in Environmental, Quality and also Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Certification in Incident Investigation and reporting.
  • Minimum of Eight (8) years of related experience with progressive management experience.
  • Strong experience in managing ISO certification and leading an integrated management system.
  • Strong project/program management experience.
  • Good experience in HSE for heavy lifting – lifting plans, method statements, route surveys etc.
  • Experience in tender processing and management.
  • Experience in the Shipping & Logistics and/or Oil and Gas industries would be an added advantage

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage time and prioritize work.
  • Ability to plan work flow to meet delivery (tight) timelines and targets.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
  • Innovative with the ability to generate creative ideas for improvement to service and work processes.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and take the right decisions in the best interest of the company.
